Onion Meadows is a 4.3-mile out-and-back hike in Wyoming's Popo Agie Wilderness, within the Washakie Ranger District of Shoshone National Forest. The trail climbs from about 9,444 feet to about 10,062 feet, a gain of 976 feet, and is rated hard. The Forest Service manages the land, and the route is on natural surface. Horses are allowed, but bikes are not. The trip is open year-round, and the trail is a natural fit for a horseback ride. Plan for a full day, with the climb and the wilderness setting taking time to cover. Nearby, Moss Lake and Baptiste Lake are both within about 1.6 miles, and the Washakie hike is about 2.4 miles away. Climbers can head to Mount Hooker, about 3.1 miles off.
