Haystack Mountain is a climbing area in the Bridger Wilderness, part of the Pinedale Ranger District of the Bridger-Teton National Forest in Wyoming. The Forest Service manages the land, and the area sits within designated wilderness, which sets it apart as a backcountry destination rather than a developed climbing park. The climbing here is alpine in style, and the route grades run from 5.2 up to 5.13. North Gully is the easiest route at 5.2, while Lowe-Spark is the hardest at 5.13. The Rapture, a 5.10b, was first climbed solo by Jim Beyer, and Labor Day, a 5.10d, was first climbed by Chris Abbott and Tim Wolfe in 1996. Several other climbing areas lie close by, including Deep Lake Dome about 1.2 miles away and Lost Temple Spire about 1.5 miles away. Hikers can reach Black Joe, about 1.6 miles off, and Big Sandy Campground, roughly 6 miles away, offers a place to stay.
