Alaska Basin-Buck Mt Pass is a 4.4-mile out-and-back hike in Wyoming's Jedediah Smith Wilderness, within the Teton Basin Ranger District of the Caribou-Targhee National Forest. The trail climbs from a low point of 9,837 feet to a high of 10,502 feet, with a total elevation gain of 688 feet. The Forest Service manages the land, and the route is rated moderate. The trail is natural-surfaced and allows horses, but not bikes. The open season runs from June 15 to November 1, so plan around those dates for the most comfortable conditions. The Alaska Basin Shelf Trail starts just 0.1 mile away, and the Avalanche Divide Trail and Hurricane Pass Trail are each about 1.3 miles off. Climbers can head to Avalanche Canyon, roughly 2.2 miles away.
