Jaws Boulder is a climbing area in New River Gorge National Park and Preserve in West Virginia, managed by the National Park Service. It sits among a cluster of climbing spots and trails, so it works well as a stop in a day of exploring the park's boulders and rock faces. Late spring and early fall are the most comfortable times to visit. Typical averages from a nearby weather station show May highs around 75°F and September highs around 78°F, with lows in the 40s and 50s. That station sits a few hundred feet lower than the boulder, so temperatures here run slightly cooler. Several climbing areas and trails lie within a short distance. Bridge Buttress Extension Trail and 2 Bridge Buttress are each about 0.1 mile away, and Burnwood Trail is about 0.4 mile off. For a change of pace, paddlers can head to Manns Creek, roughly 8.6 miles away.
