Petrified Loop is a short, easy out-and-back hike in Escalante State Park in southern Utah, managed by State Park and Recreation. The route is about 1.2 miles long, with a low point of 5,999 feet and a high of 6,198 feet, and it gains about 177 feet in elevation. It makes a quick addition to a day spent exploring the park's network of trails. Spring and fall are the most comfortable times to go. Typical averages from a nearby weather station in Escalante show May highs around 76°F and October highs around 68°F, while July averages about 92°F and January highs sit near 43°F. Eagle View Trail starts just 0.1 mile away, and Petrified Wood Trail is about 0.4 mile off. Roundy Trail and Horizon Arch Trail lie roughly 5 miles away.
