Death Hollow is a hard hike in Utah's Dixie National Forest, within the Escalante Ranger District. The trail is an out-and-back that rises from about 6,340 feet to roughly 9,048 feet, with a total elevation gain of about 2,757 feet over a route of about 21.4 miles. The Forest Service manages the land, and the trail surface is natural, with no room for bikes. The most comfortable stretch for a visit runs from late spring into early fall. Typical averages from a nearby weather station at Bryce Canyon show highs around 64°F in May and 71°F in September, with July peaking near 81°F. That station sits about 1,462 feet below the trail's high point, so temperatures on the summit run cooler. The Box Death Hollow Trailhead is the trail's starting point, and the hike is open year-round. Upper Death Hollow lies about 0.1 mile away, and Rogers Peak Trail is about 0.8 mile off. Blue Spruce Campground is about 2 miles away, and Cowpuncher Guard Station is about 3 miles away.
