Upper Death Hollow is a moderate out-and-back hike in southern Utah, set within the Escalante Ranger District of the Dixie National Forest. The trail stretches about 8.7 miles and rises roughly 1,750 feet from its low point of 7,269 feet to a high of 9,041 feet. The Forest Service manages the land. For comfortable weather, aim for late spring through early fall. Typical averages from a nearby weather station at Bryce Canyon put June highs around 76°F with lows near 37°F, and September highs around 71°F. That station sits about 1,450 feet lower than the hike's summit, so temperatures on the ridge run cooler. The hike starts right alongside Death Hollow, about a tenth of a mile away. Rogers Peak Trail lies less than a mile off, and Blue Spruce Campground is about 1.9 miles away. Posey Lake Campground is roughly 4.7 miles away for another place to camp.
