The Great Western Trail Alternate is a 7.6-mile out-and-back hike in the Fremont River Ranger District of Fishlake National Forest in Utah, managed by the Forest Service. The trail starts at about 9,400 feet and climbs to roughly 10,560 feet, with an elevation gain of about 1,175 feet one way. It is rated moderate. Several other hikes sit close by. Um Plateau is about a mile away, and Emerald Lake and Between the Forks are each within about 2 miles. For an overnight stay, Harves River Cua Dispersed campground is about 4 miles off.
