Steins Overlook is a sport climbing area in the Lookout Mountain Ranger District of Ochoco National Forest in Oregon, managed by the Forest Service. It sits about 0.1 mile from Steins Pillar, another climbing area, which makes the two a natural pairing for a day on the rock. The climbing here is all sport, with eight routes spread across a range from 5.10b to 5.12a. Honeybee is the easiest at 5.10b, and The Shining is the hardest at 5.12a. Frankensteens and Friday the 13th both sit at 5.11a. The routes were developed by climbers including Dave McRae, Tyler Tanhoff and Liz Elhoffer, with first ascents dating from 2017 through 2018. Summer is the most comfortable time to climb. Typical averages from the Grizzly weather station, about 17 miles away, show July highs around 84°F with only about four wet days, while winter brings highs in the low 40s and a few snow days a month. Nearby, Giddy-Up-Go and Giddy-Up-Go Tie are hikes about 2.4 to 2.6 miles away, and Wildcat Campground is about 2.9 miles off. Ochoco Creek, a paddling spot, is about 4.8 miles away.
