Mud Pile is a climbing area on Bureau of Land Management land in the Prineville Deschutes Field Office in central Oregon. It sits among several other climbing areas, with (w) The Marsupials, North Face and Brogan Spire all about 0.1 mile away. The area has 20 routes, mostly sport climbing with two trad routes. Grades run from 5.7 up to 5.12c, with the hardest being Jacobs-Strain Line at 5.12c. Sport climbers will find Tuff Love at 5.10c and Edge of the World at 5.10b. Loose Hookers is the only trad route listed, a 5.7. For timing, late spring and early fall are the most comfortable. Typical averages from a nearby weather station in Redmond show May highs around 69°F and September highs around 79°F, while July and August average in the upper 80s. Hikers can reach Canyon Trail and Homestead Trail, both about 0.7 mile away. For an overnight stay, Skull Hollow campground is about 3.7 miles off.
