The Bend Area climbing area sits within Drake Park & Mirror Pond in Bend, Oregon, on city land. It is a compact cluster of routes, with six climbing routes in total, and it works well as a short stop for climbers already exploring the park's trails. The routes here run from trad climbing on the 5.9- to 5.11+ scale to bouldering on the V3 to V4-5 scale. Among the named routes are Sponge Crack at 5.10a/b and Pursuit of Happiness, a top-rope route at 5.11+ that was first climbed by Julian Gonzales in February 2022. Summer is the most comfortable time to visit. Typical averages from a nearby weather station in Bend show July highs around 84°F with lows near 49°F and only about two wet days in the month. Winter brings highs in the low 40s and a few snow days each month from December through February. Several other climbing areas and trails lie within a short drive. The Pit is about 1.6 miles away, and The Depot is about 2.1 miles away. For a walk, Dog Path is 0.7 miles off and Juniper Park Trail is 1.2 miles away.
