Flounder and Cod Rock is a climbing area within Smith Rock State Park in Oregon, on city-managed land. It sits among a cluster of other climbing spots, with the Smith Rock Group and the Northwest Face both about 0.1 mile away and the Northeast Face about 0.2 mile off. The area is a compact hub of rock, with several routes close together and the River Trail and Rope-de-Dope Trail within a short walk. The climbing here is mostly sport, with a few trad and one top-rope route. The grade range runs from 5.7+ up to 5.10d, and the hardest route, Cure for Pain, is a sport climb at 5.10d. Sunset Boulevard is a trad route at 5.7+, and Winter Sunset, a sport route at 5.10b, was first climbed by Hiroki Ide in December 2018. For timing, late spring and early fall are the most comfortable. Typical averages from a nearby weather station in Redmond show May highs around 69°F and September highs around 79°F, while July and August average in the upper 80s. Skull Hollow campground is about 4.8 miles away, and South Shore Group Sites is about 8.9 miles away.
