Snake Rock is a climbing area within Smith Rock State Park in Oregon, on city-managed land. It sits among several other climbing spots, including The Dihedrals and the Christian Brothers - West Side and East Side areas, all within about a tenth of a mile. The River Trail and Misery Ridge Trail are also close by, making it easy to pair a climb with a walk. The climbing here is sport and trad, with 12 routes in total. The grades run from 5.8- up to 5.12d, and the median is 5.10+. Sport routes include Don't Tread On Me at 5.8- and Lords of Karma at 5.11b, while the trad route A Desperate Man is 5.9. Split Image, the hardest route at 5.12d, is also a sport climb. For timing, late spring and early fall are the most comfortable. Typical averages from a nearby weather station in Redmond show May highs around 69°F and September highs around 79°F, with July and August peaking near 88°F. Winter is cooler, with January highs around 44°F. Skull Hollow campground is about 4.6 miles away, and South Shore Group Sites is about 8.6 miles away.
