North Caddywhomper Way is a short, easy mountain biking route in L.L. "Stub" Stewart State Park in Oregon, managed by city land. It serves as the main backbone and maintenance access path for the XC north mountain biking area, and its wide dirt path makes it a natural starting point for riders heading out on the park's network of trails. The route is an out-and-back of about 1.1 miles, with a total elevation gain of 149 feet. The climb is front-loaded, with the steepest stretch at about 0.26 miles in, reaching a high point of 1,250 feet before returning to a low of 1,189 feet. The grade there peaks at about 9 percent, but the path remains gentle enough for beginners. Summer is the most comfortable time to ride. Typical averages from a nearby weather station in Vernonia show July and August highs around 77 to 78°F with only about four wet days a month, while winter months bring highs in the mid-40s and rain on 20 days a month. Several other trails sit within a short distance, including Brush Monkey, Peavey Hook Bridleway and Lasso Loop, each about 0.1 mile away. For paddling, the Nehalem River is about 7 miles off.
