Yoran Lake is a hard hike of about 8 miles in the Diamond Peak Wilderness, part of the Crescent Ranger District of Deschutes National Forest in central Oregon. The Forest Service manages the land, and the trail is natural-surfaced. Horses are allowed, but bikes are not. The route is an out-and-back that climbs about 1,050 feet one way, with a total round-trip gain of about 2,164 feet. The steepest stretch comes at about 1.5 miles in, where the grade reaches 16 percent. Summer is the most comfortable time to go. Typical averages from a nearby weather station at Odell Lake show July and August highs around 73 to 74°F with only about three wet days a month, while winter brings highs in the mid-30s and regular snow days. Deer Creek is about 1.2 miles away, and the Whitefish Creek Trail and the Midnight Lake Tie are each about 2.7 miles off. Trapper Creek Campground, about 3.5 miles away, is the closest place to camp.
