Vista Point is an easy, out-and-back hike of about 1.4 miles on the Forest Service land within the Columbia River Gorge National Scenic Area in Oregon. The trail rises from 1,114 feet to a high point of 1,557 feet, with a total gain of 762 feet over the round trip. The climb is rolling, with the steepest stretch at about 0.3 miles in, where the grade reaches 30%. July and August are the most comfortable months, with typical highs around 77 to 78°F and only five to six wet days each month, according to a nearby weather station. That station sits well below the trail, so temperatures on the higher ground run cooler. The hike takes about an hour, and several other routes start close by. Devils Rest and Primrose Path are each about 0.3 miles away, and Rat Cave offers climbing about 0.7 miles off. Gordon Creek, about 6.7 miles away, is a canoeing option.
