Larch Mountain is a 2-mile out-and-back hike in Oregon's Columbia River Gorge National Scenic Area, managed by the Forest Service. It starts at a low point of about 1,100 feet and climbs to a high of about 1,600 feet, with a total elevation gain of roughly 1,300 feet over the course of the trip. The most comfortable time to go is late summer. Typical averages from a nearby weather station run around 77 to 78°F in July and August, with only five or six wet days a month, while winter months bring highs in the low to mid 40s and rain on most days. The Cougar Rock Trail lies about 0.1 mile away, and Franklin Ridge is about 0.3 mile off. Oneonta Creek, a paddling spot, is about 1.2 miles away. Rat Cave, a climbing area, is about 2.3 miles from the trail.
