Tygh Creek Cut Away is a 2.4-mile out-and-back hike in Oregon's Badger Creek Wilderness, within the Barlow Ranger District of Mt. Hood National Forest. The trail is managed by the Forest Service and runs on natural surface. The route starts at about 4,892 feet and climbs to a high point of 4,900 feet, with a total gain of 699 feet for the round trip. The steepest stretch comes at about 1.1 miles in, where the grade reaches 17 percent. The hike is rated hard. Summer is the most comfortable time to go. Typical averages from a nearby weather station at Government Camp show July and August highs around 70°F with only about four wet days a month, while winter brings highs in the mid-30s and rain on most days. Gordon Butte Trail #470A lies just 0.2 miles away, and Douglas Cabin Trail is about 0.9 miles off. Climbers can head to Area 51, about 2.2 miles away, and Fifteen Mile campground is about 2.6 miles away.
