Twin Pillars is a hard hike in Oregon's Mill Creek Wilderness, part of the Lookout Mountain Ranger District of the Ochoco National Forest. The route is an out-and-back of about 12 miles, with a total elevation gain of roughly 2,572 feet. The climb is front-loaded, and the steepest stretch comes at about 2.7 miles in, where the grade reaches 28 percent. The high point is 5,804 feet, and the low point is 4,014 feet. The trail is on natural surface, and horses are allowed. The Forest Service manages the land, and the route is open year-round. Plan on about 5.5 hours for the trip. Belknap lies just 0.2 miles away, and the Wildcat Trail and Twin Pillars Spur are both within about 2 miles. For an overnight base, Wildcat Campground is about 2.1 miles off.
