Tamanawas Falls is a moderate out-and-back hike of about 2.2 miles in the Hood River Ranger District of Mt. Hood National Forest in Oregon, managed by the Forest Service. The trail rises from a low point of about 3,020 feet to a high of about 3,460 feet, with a total elevation gain of roughly 986 feet for the round trip. Summer is the most comfortable time to go. Typical averages from a nearby weather station at Government Camp show July and August highs around 69 to 70°F with only about four wet days a month, while winter months bring highs in the mid-30s and rain on most days. The hike starts close to several other destinations. Cloud Cap Saddle campground and Pete's Pile climbers trail are each about 0.1 mile away, and the Zig Zag hike is about half a mile off. For paddling, the East Fork Hood River is about 1.2 miles away.
