Shoofly Trail is an easy, short hike of about 1.7 miles in L.L. "Stub" Stewart State Park in Oregon, an out-and-back route that reaches a high point of 1,226 feet from a start at about 1,157 feet. The trail is city-managed land within the state park, and the climb is gentle, with the steepest stretch at about 0.23 miles in and a total gain of 139 feet. Summer is the most comfortable time to go. Typical July and August highs run in the upper 70s with only about four wet days a month, according to averages from a nearby weather station in Vernonia. That station sits roughly 600 feet lower, so temperatures on the trail run cooler. The trail sits close to several other spots. Link 'n' Pin and Greenhorn Trail (lower) are both about 0.1 mile away, and Drip Torch Trail is about 0.2 mile away. For paddling, the Nehalem River is about 7 miles away.
