River Loop is a 1.5-mile out-and-back hike in the Bend/Fort Rock Ranger District of Deschutes National Forest in Oregon, managed by the Forest Service. The trail is rated easy, with a total climb of about 312 feet and a steady grade that peaks at about 9% around the halfway point. Bikes are allowed on the natural-surface trail, but horses are not. The route starts at an elevation of about 3,907 feet, with the high point at about 3,958 feet and the low point at about 3,818 feet. Summer is the most comfortable time to go. Typical averages from a nearby weather station in Bend show July highs around 84°F with lows near 49°F and only about two wet days, while winter brings highs in the low 40s and a few snow days a month. The Rimrock Rover Trail lies about 0.4 miles away, and the Deschutes River Hiking and Rimrock Paved routes are each about half a mile off. Climbers can find Meadow Camp, also known as Meadow Picnic Area, about 1.1 miles away.
