Rebel Rock Trail #3324 is a 12.2-mile out-and-back hike in the McKenzie River Ranger District of Oregon's Willamette National Forest, managed by the Forest Service. The trail climbs from about 2,170 feet to a high point of 5,292 feet, with a total elevation gain of 5,327 feet over the round trip. The route is rated expert, and the climb is front-loaded, with the steepest stretch at about 1.8 miles in, where the grade reaches 45 percent. Summer is the most comfortable time to go. Typical averages from a nearby weather station at Santiam Junction, which sits about 1,500 feet lower, show July and August highs around 76°F with lows near 42°F. That station's figures are not directly comparable to the trail's higher elevation, so expect cooler temperatures on the summit. The trip takes about 6.5 hours.
