Frissell Crossing is a short, easy out-and-back hike in the McKenzie River Ranger District of Oregon's Willamette National Forest, about 1.4 miles long with a total elevation gain of 174 feet. The trail runs on natural surface and is open year-round, and the Forest Service manages the surrounding land. The route starts and ends at roughly the same elevation, with a low point of about 2,569 feet and a high of about 2,681 feet. It is a gentle walk, and the climb is easy to fit into a longer day in the area. Summer is the warmest stretch. Typical averages from a nearby weather station show July and August highs around 86°F with lows near 50°F, while winter highs sit in the low 40s. That station sits well below the trail, so temperatures on the route run cooler. Frissell Crossing Campground is just 0.3 miles away, and the Olallie Trail #3529 and Roaring River (group) campground are each about half a mile off. Paddlers can reach the Roaring River about 1.8 miles away.
