Echo is a moderate hike of about 5 miles in the McKenzie River Ranger District of the Willamette National Forest in Oregon, managed by the Forest Service. The trail is an out-and-back with a one-way climb of about 760 feet, from a low point of roughly 1,745 feet to a high of about 2,286 feet. Summer is the most comfortable time to go. Typical averages from the Cougar Dam weather station, about a mile away, show July and August highs near 89°F with only about three wet days a month, while winter months bring highs in the upper 40s and rain on most days. Bikes are allowed on the natural-surface trail. O Leary Mountain sits just 0.2 miles away, and East Fork and Lowder Mountain Trail #3329 are within about 2 miles. For an overnight stay, Delta Campground is about 3.6 miles off.
