Mount Bachelor Trail is a hard hike in the Bend/Fort Rock Ranger District of Deschutes National Forest in Oregon, managed by the Forest Service. The trail is an out-and-back route of about 6.5 miles, with a one-way climb of roughly 2,650 feet from a starting point near 6,400 feet to a high point of about 9,066 feet. The climb is front-loaded, and the steepest stretch comes around mile 2.3, where the grade reaches about 41%. The trail sits in the high country, and the route is long and steep. Plan for a full day on foot, with the most significant effort concentrated in the first half of the hike. Several other destinations lie within a short distance. Fly Creek and Evergreen Trail are both about 0.4 miles away, and the Dutchman Loop cross-country ski route is also about 0.4 miles off. For an overnight stay, Soda Creek Campground is about 3.3 miles away.
