West Ridge is a moderate out-and-back hike in Oregon's Deschutes National Forest, within the Bend/Fort Rock Ranger District. The trail is about 2.6 miles long, with a total elevation gain of 1,179 feet, and it reaches a high point of 9,023 feet. The climb is steepest near the start, with a grade of about 30% at 0.24 miles in. The route is on natural surface, and the Forest Service manages the land. Bikes and horses are not allowed. The hike is open from April 1 to October 31, and the estimated time is about 1.5 hours. The trailhead sits at 8,174 feet, and the route is a short, direct climb to the high point and back. Several other hikes start close by, including Rope Tow and Northwest Crossover, each about 0.3 miles away, and Summit Crossover at 0.4 miles. For an overnight stay, Soda Creek campground is about 3.5 miles off.
