Humbug Flats is an easy, short hike in the Detroit Ranger District of the Willamette National Forest in Oregon, about 2 miles from the trailhead. The route is an out-and-back that gains about 45 feet one way, with the high point at 1,828 feet and the low at 1,781 feet. The trail is natural-surfaced and allows bikes. Summer is the most comfortable time to go. Typical averages from the nearby Detroit Dam weather station show July and August highs around 80°F with only four or five wet days a month, while winter brings highs in the low 40s and rain on most days. Paddlers can find Humbug Creek and the Breitenbush River about 2 miles away. For an overnight stay, Fox Creek Group Site and Gold Butte Lookout are both within about 2.6 miles.
