Gibson Lake is a short, out-and-back hike on land managed by the Bureau of Indian Affairs in Oregon, about 9 miles from the town of Breitenbush. The trail is 0.9 miles long, with a one-way climb of 38 feet from a low point of 5,725 feet to a high of 5,778 feet. The steepest stretch comes early, at about 0.18 miles in, with a 5% grade. The route is rated hard, which makes it a short but steep outing. It's a natural-surface trail, so expect a rougher walk than a paved path. Breitenbush Lake campground sits just 0.4 miles away, and Horseshoe Lake (Olallie) campground is about half a mile off. Horseshoe Saddle and Ruddy Hill are both hikes within about a mile.
