Flagstaff Loop is a short loop hike on Bureau of Land Management land in eastern Oregon, within the Vale Baker Field Office. It is a loop of about half a mile, with a high point of 3,937 feet and a low of 3,906 feet, and the trail rises only about 23 feet from start to finish. The route is an easy one for a quick outing, and the steepest stretch comes early, at about 0.12 miles in. With so little elevation change, it works well as a short addition to a longer walk or as a standalone stop. Summer is the most comfortable time to go. Typical averages from a nearby weather station in Baker City run to highs around 88°F in July and August, with fewer wet days than in most of the year. That station sits several hundred feet lower than the loop, so temperatures on the trail run cooler. The NHOTIC Site Trail and the Ascent trail both start about 0.1 mile away, and the Oregon Trail and Mountain Ash are each about half a mile off.
