Discovery Loop is a 2-mile hike in the Central Coast Ranger District-ODNRA of Siuslaw National Forest in Oregon, managed by the Forest Service. The trail is an out-and-back with a total round-trip climb of about 1,350 feet, and it is rated easy. Summer is the most comfortable time to go. Typical averages from a nearby weather station in Yachats show July and August highs around 64 to 65°F with only five or six wet days a month, while winter months bring highs in the low 50s and rain on 17 to 20 days. The trail is natural-surface and bikes are allowed. It is not an accessible route. Captain Cook and Giant Spruce are both about 0.1 mile away, and the Oregon Coast hike is just as close. Cape Perpetua campground sits about 0.4 mile off.
