Giant Spruce is an easy, out-and-back hike of about 2.2 miles on gravel in the Central Coast Ranger District-ODNRA of Siuslaw National Forest in Oregon, managed by the Forest Service. The trail rises from a low point of about 50 feet to a high of about 339 feet, with a total elevation gain of about 523 feet for the round trip. Summer is the most comfortable time to go. Typical averages from a nearby weather station in Yachats show July and August highs around 64 to 65°F with only five or six wet days a month, while winter months bring highs in the low 50s and rain on 17 to 20 days. The trail starts at the Cape Perpetua Visitor Center Trailheads, which is open year-round, and the hike takes about an hour. Bikes are allowed on the gravel surface, and the trail is not accessible. Captain Cook and Discovery Loop both sit about 0.1 mile away, and Cape Perpetua campground is about 0.4 mile off. Paddlers can reach the Yachats River about 5.6 miles away.
