Devil's Flat is a hard out-and-back hike in the Tiller Ranger District of Oregon's Umpqua National Forest, managed by the Forest Service. It covers about 10.6 miles with a total climb of 5,729 feet, so plan on a full day. The trail is natural-surface and open to horses and bikes, but it is not accessible. Summer is the most comfortable time to go. Typical averages from the Sexton Summit weather station, about 21 miles away and roughly 780 feet lower than the trail's high point, show July and August highs around 77°F with only about two wet days a month. Winter is cold and wet, with highs in the low 40s and 15 to 16 wet days a month from November through March. Devils Flat Campground and Cow Creek Falls both sit about 3.5 miles away. The Valhalla climbing area is about 5.6 miles off, and West Fork Evans Creek, a paddling spot, is about 7.7 miles away.
