Crater Rim is an easy out-and-back hike of about 2 miles in Oregon's Deschutes National Forest, within the Bend/Fort Rock Ranger District. It is a short walk with a one-way climb of about 170 feet, and the round trip gains and losses total about 400 feet. The steepest part comes near the start, about 0.4 miles in, with a grade of roughly 7 percent. The trail sits at an elevation of about 6,300 feet at its lowest point, rising to about 6,525 feet at the top. It makes a natural pairing with other outings in the area, and the Forest Service manages the land. Several other destinations lie within a mile. Paulina Falls and the Newberry Crater Trail are both about 0.7 miles away. Paulina Lake campground is about 0.7 miles off, and Paulina Nordic Loop is about 0.6 miles away.
