Canton Creek is a 9-mile out-and-back hike in Oregon's Umpqua National Forest, on the North Umpqua Ranger District. The trail rises from a low point of about 2,183 feet to a high of 4,736 feet, with a total elevation gain of about 3,314 feet. The climb is front-loaded, and the steepest stretch comes around mile 2.8, where the grade reaches about 27 percent. The trail is on natural surface and is open to bikes, but it is not accessible. Summer is the most comfortable time to go. Typical averages from a nearby weather station show July and August highs around 79°F, with only about four wet days a month, while winter brings highs in the upper 30s and frequent snow days from November through March. The Forest Service lists the open season as June 1 through October 31, and the hike is estimated to take about 4.5 hours. Pass Creek and McKinley Rock are both about 3 miles away, and Mineral Forest Camp and Long Ridge are within about 6.5 miles.
