Afternoon Delight is an easy hike of about 2.5 miles in the Bend/Fort Rock Ranger District of Deschutes National Forest in Oregon, managed by the Forest Service. The trail is an out-and-back with a total climb of about 384 feet, so the one-way gain is roughly half that. The steepest stretch comes at about 0.77 miles in, with a grade of about 5 percent. Bikes are allowed on this natural-surface trail, but horses are not. Summer is the most comfortable time to go. Typical averages from the nearby Sunriver weather station run to highs around 84°F in July and 83°F in August, with lows in the low 40s. That station sits a few hundred feet lower than the trail, so temperatures on the hike run a little cooler. Several other hikes start close by, including Royal Flush at under a mile, Chain Reaction at about 1.1 miles and Elko Point at about 1.2 miles. The Deschutes River Trail is about 1.7 miles away.
