Piety Island Campground sits on Detroit Lake in the Detroit Ranger District of the Willamette National Forest, managed by the Army Corps of Engineers. The site is set up for boat-in access from the northeast side of the island, and all campsites offer views of the lake. Summer is the most comfortable time to visit. Typical averages from the nearby Detroit Dam weather station show July and August highs around 80°F with only four or five wet days a month, while winter brings highs in the low 40s and frequent rain. Winter access is on a walk-in basis, depending on water levels and weather. The campground has vault toilets, and a fee is charged. The Piety hike starts just 0.1 mile away, and Cove Creek Campground and Detroit Lake State Recreation Area are both within a mile. Stahlman Point is about a mile off.
