Humbug Cg

Humbug Campground is a 22-site Forest Service campground in the Detroit Ranger District of the Willamette National Forest in Oregon. It sits along the Breitenbush River, where the old-growth forest setting and easy access to the river make it a base for both time on the water and walks through the trees. The sites here are set up for a simple stay. Each has a picnic table and grill, and vault toilets and drinking water spigots are spread throughout the campground. Most campsites offer sweeping views of the Breitenbush River, and May through July brings a spectacular rhododendron bloom in shades of pink. Summer is the most comfortable time to visit. Typical averages from the nearby Detroit Dam weather station show July and August highs around 80°F, with only four or five wet days a month. Winter runs colder and wetter, with highs in the low 40s and rain on 18 to 21 days a month from December through March. Wading and fishing are popular in the Breitenbush River, and rainbow trout is the most common catch for anglers. The Breitenbush River paddling route is about half a mile away. Detroit Lake State Recreation Area is about a mile off, and Piety Island Campground and the Piety hike are each about 2 miles away.
