Coverdale Campground is a Forest Service campground in Oregon's Hells Canyon National Recreation Area, part of the Wallowa-Whitman National Forest. It sits within the recreation area's ranger district, and the Forest Service manages the land. The site is simple, with vault toilets as the only listed amenity. A fee is charged for stays. Summer is the most comfortable time to visit. Typical averages from the nearby Joseph weather station show July and August highs around 79 to 80°F, with only five or six wet days a month. Winters there are cold, with January highs near 35°F and lows around 19°F. Several other spots lie within a few miles. Hidden Campground is about 2.7 miles away, and the Imnaha River and Gumboot Creek offer canoeing within about 4 miles. The Duck Lake Trail 1875 hike is roughly 4.5 miles off.
