Blackhorse Campground is a Forest Service campground in the Hells Canyon National Recreation Area, part of the Wallowa-Whitman National Forest in northeastern Oregon. It sits along the Hells Canyon Scenic Byway and the Wild and Scenic Imnaha River, about 21 miles from the town of Joseph. The campground serves both tent campers and those with trailers or RVs. Vault toilets are the only facility listed. A fee is charged for stays. Summer is the most comfortable time to visit. Typical averages from the nearby Joseph weather station show July and August highs around 80°F with only five or six wet days a month, while winter highs stay in the mid-30s. Fall brings big game hunting, and the byway and the river offer fishing and picnicking. Ollokot Campground is just half a mile away, and Coverdale Campground is about 4 miles off. Paddlers can head to Gumboot Creek, about 3 miles away, and the Imnaha River, about 6 miles away.
