Middle Finger Wall is a climbing area in North Carolina, about a mile from the town of Mountain View. It sits among a cluster of other climbing spots, including Middle Finger (backside), The Fortress and Main Climbing Areas, all within about a tenth of a mile. The Backside Trail starts just as close by. The area has nine routes, with six of them trad and two sport. The YDS grades run from 5.5 to 5.9+, with Pillar Passage at 5.6 and Flexible Flyer at 5.9+ as the hardest. Iron Curtain is a sport route at 5.7, and Middle Finger is a trad route at the same grade. Spring and fall are the most comfortable times to climb. Typical averages from a nearby weather station in Gastonia show October highs around 74°F with lows near 51°F, and April is similar. That station sits about 577 feet lower than the wall, so temperatures on the rock run cooler. For a change from climbing, Rocktop Trail and Tower Trail are both about 0.4 miles away. Paddlers can head to Long Creek, roughly 5 miles off.
