Unsorted Boulders To Be Placed In Their Appropriate Subareas is a bouldering area in New York, about a mile from the community of Steinbeck Corners. It sits among a cluster of climbing areas, with Mercury Area just 0.1 mile away and Moby Area and Diesel and Ice Cube Area each about 0.2 mile off. The name suggests the boulders here are not yet fully sorted into their designated subareas, so the site works best as a stop for climbers already familiar with the surrounding bouldering. The area holds 13 boulder problems, all rated on the V scale from V0 to V12. The easiest are Baby Snakes and Bombs Away at V0, while Drama is the hardest at V12. Blood of Chatskills runs V2-3, and Entrée is V4. The range covers a wide spectrum of bouldering, from beginner to advanced. Summer is the most comfortable time to visit. Typical averages from a nearby weather station in Carmel run to highs around 78°F in July and 70°F in September, with lows in the 50s and 60s. Winters are cold, with January highs near 33°F. For more time on the rock, Mercury Area and Moby Area are right next door. Hikers can head to Cliff Trail, about 2.3 miles away, or Bare Hill, about 3.3 miles away.
