The Ice Cube is a bouldering area in New York, about a mile from the community of Steinbeck Corners. It sits within a cluster of climbing spots, and it works well as a stop for climbers who want to pair several areas in one visit. The area has seven boulder problems, all rated on the V scale. The routes run from V2 to V7, with the hardest being Ice Cube Dyno at V7 and The Hump at V7. Fontaineblaeu Arete is V6, and The Crystal Problem is V4-5. Pinched Loaf is the easiest, at V2. Summer and early fall are the most comfortable times to climb. Typical averages from a nearby weather station show July highs around 78°F and September highs near 70°F with lows in the low 50s. Winters are cold, with January highs around 33°F. The Diesel and Ice Cube Area and the Mercury Area are both about 0.1 mile away, and Diesel Boulder is the same distance. For a walk, Cliff Trail lies about 2.5 miles off.
