Main Wall is a climbing area in the Lake George Wild Forest in New York, managed by the State Department of Conservation. It sits among a cluster of other climbing spots, with Neanderthal Cave just 0.1 mile away and Desert Shield Area about 0.2 mile off. Shelving Rock and Carhartt Wall are each roughly 0.3 mile away, so the area is easy to explore as a group of crags. The climbing here is a mix of trad and sport routes, with 15 trad routes and 5 sport routes among the 21 listed. Grades run from 5.6 up to 5.11d, with the hardest route, Just Take It, a sport climb at 5.11d. Princess Bride is a trad route at 5.6, and Holy Grail is a trad route at 5.10c. Summer is the warmest stretch for climbing. Typical averages from a nearby weather station in Whitehall show July highs around 83°F with lows near 61°F, while September cools to highs in the mid-70s. That station sits about 600 feet lower than the wall, so temperatures on the rock run a bit cooler.
