Northwest Bay Trail is a 5-mile point-to-point hike in New York, about 2 miles from Bolton Landing. It's a low-effort outing, with a total elevation gain of about 425 feet and a rating of easy. The trail starts at roughly 385 feet and reaches a high of about 567 feet. The steepest stretch comes at about 3.5 miles in, where the grade reaches 19%. Dogs are allowed, but bikes, horses and wheelchairs are not. Summer is the most comfortable time to go. Typical averages from a nearby weather station in Whitehall show July highs around 83°F with lows near 61°F, while September cools to highs around 74°F. Climbers will find Main Wall and Neanderthal Cave about 1.6 miles away, and The Sagamore offers lake fishing at about 1.8 miles. The Red Rock Bay to Ridge Trail is about 2.5 miles off.
