Devonshire is a climbing area in Harriman State Park in New York, managed by State Park and Recreation. It sits among several other climbing areas, including Shadow Castle, Jumble Hotel and Albion, all within about a tenth of a mile. The White Diamond Trail also starts close by. The climbing here is sport and mixed, with seven routes in total. Grades run from 5.6 up to 5.11a. The routes include Devonshire Pillar (mixed, 5.9), Major John Andre (sport, 5.9) and Devonshire Ridge (sport, 5.11a), the hardest of the lot. The most comfortable climbing months are typically late spring through early fall. Typical averages from the nearby Wanaque Raymond Dam weather station show highs around 71°F in May and 76°F in September. That station sits a few hundred feet lower than the park, so temperatures on the rock may run slightly cooler.
