Lake Champlain Region is a climbing area in New York's Hammond Pond Wild Forest, managed by the State Department of Conservation. It sits within a cluster of climbing spots, with Main Cliff, Right End and Left End all about 0.8 miles away, and Underwood Canyon about 1.4 miles off. The area has 19 routes, with sport climbing making up 12 of them and traditional climbing 7. The YDS grades run from 5.8 to 5.13b, with the hardest route, Leap of Faith, at 5.13b. Sport climbers can try Poster Boy at 5.10b or Ain't No Thang at 5.12a. Summer is the most comfortable time to climb. Typical averages from a nearby weather station at Lake Placid show July highs around 74°F with lows near 54°F, while winter highs stay in the 20s. For a walk, Underwood Canyon path is about 1.9 miles away, and the East Mill flow trail is about 2.1 miles away.
