R Trail is a short, moderate mountain biking route in the Town of Yorktown Parkland, on city-managed land in New York. The trail is an out-and-back that covers about half a mile, with a low point of 486 feet and a high of 515 feet. The climb is gentle, with a total gain and loss of about 28 feet each, and the steepest stretch comes at about 0.14 miles in, with a grade of about 5%. Late spring and early fall are the most comfortable times to ride. Typical averages from a nearby weather station in Shrub Oak show May highs around 71°F and September highs around 75°F, while July peaks near 84°F and January highs sit around 37°F. Several other trails start close by, including G Trail, B Trail and O Trail, each about 0.1 mile away, and Y Trail at about 0.2 mile. For climbing, Rocky Glen Pond and Blue Mountain Park are both about 5.6 miles off.
