Sackett Trail is a 1.5-mile point-to-point hike in Black Rock Forest in New York, managed by a non-governmental organization. The trail rises from about 1,075 feet to about 1,323 feet, with the steepest stretch at roughly 0.8 miles in, where the grade reaches about 15%. It is an easy route, and the climb is gentle enough to fit into a longer day on the forest's trail network. Late spring and early fall are the most comfortable times to go. Typical averages from a nearby weather station at West Point put May highs around 72°F and September highs around 76°F, while July peaks near 85°F. That station sits well below the trail, so temperatures on the higher ground run cooler. Several other trails start close by. Compartment Trail is about half a mile away, Scenic Trail about 0.6 miles, and White Oak Trail about 0.7 miles. Storm King Mountain, a climbing area, lies about 3.5 miles off.
