Storm King Mountain is a climbing area in New York's Storm King State Park, managed by State Park and Recreation. It sits within the park's own land, and the Bypass Trail starts just 0.1 mile away, making it an easy pairing with a hike. The climbing here is bouldering, and the one listed route, Baby's First Steps, is a V0. That makes it a low-grade boulder problem, suitable for climbers looking for a simple outing on the rock. For timing, late spring and early fall are the most comfortable. Typical averages from the nearby West Point weather station show May highs around 72°F and September highs around 76°F, with July peaking near 85°F. That station sits about 955 feet lower than the mountain, so temperatures on the rock run cooler. Several trails lie within a short distance, including the Howell Trail and Bluebird Trail at about 0.4 mile and the Butter Hill Trail at about 0.5 mile. Paddlers can find Moodna Creek roughly 6 miles away.
